By the end of book 4 you are fully convinced that Ali's killer is Ian Thomas, Spencer's sister Melissa's (ex) boyfriend. You are also aware that Mona was A and is now dead. Boy I did not know how the series would continue based on those facts alone.
I love the way that Sara kept it going by using Ian's trial and all that mess it brings to Rosewood. It is sheer genius to create another A who begins taunting the girls. This book just pulls more twist and turns you never see coming. By the end of it I was doubting that Ian was really the killer and wondering who this new mystery A was.
With Ian coming to Spencer saying he knows who really killed Ali and he is on the verge of proving it I at first thought he was just using that to get Spencer to not testify against him in court. But then at the end when the girls go into the woods behind Spencer's house and find Ian dead I was then fully convinced that maybe this new A is the real murderer and maybe Ian was killed trying to show the girls the truth.
As if the new A and information Ian brings into the story wasn't juicy enough you learn that Spencer is not a natural born Hastings. Spencer's sister, Melissa, plants the idea that Spencer may be adopted. This information comes about when their grandmother dies and leaves $2 million to all her natural born grandchildren and Spencer did not receive her $2 million.
Hanna's soon to be stepsister continues her bitchy ways with Hanna and seeming like an angel with Hanna's dad. Drives me nuts. I want to grab that girl shake her and tell her to leave Hanna alone.
Aria is proving to be more responsible than Spencer when it comes to other family members boyfriend. I say that because when Aria's mom's boyfriend kisses her instead of kissing back and making Aria pushes him off and runs to her room. Then when he confronts her near the end she tells him to leave her and her mom alone. Very responsible decision.
Emily is starting to like boys again. She is not sure what sex she really likes but now she has a boyfriend and everyone knows it. She made the smart to choice to tell him that her most recent ex was a girl, although, she only did that because A threatened to tell.
This book was by far as intriguing and good as the last one. These books just keep getting better and I finish them faster.
